And to devise a strategy for taking on the BJP in the 2024 general elections.
At the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on March 14, prominent leaders asked that Rahul Gandhi take over as Congress President.
According to sources, senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury advised Wayanad MP to take the position of President at the meeting.
"Rahul is ready to consider the position," sources added. Following that, a recommendation was made at the meeting to hold the presidential election in August-September.
Nonetheless, it was agreed that the ongoing process could not be postponed."
Following the defeat in 2019, Rahul Gandhi resigned as Congress president, and Sonia Gandhi assumed the role of interim president.
During the next Chintan Shivir scheduled to be held in Udaipur, discussions and crucial decisions are likely to be taken regarding the post of the Congress president.
