Ivana Trump, former President Donald Trump's first wife, died at the age of 73, the Trump family revealed in a statement.

Eric Trump, Ivana's son, paid tribute to his mother in an Instagram post.

Donald Trump described his first wife as "a fantastic, gorgeous, and remarkable woman who had a tremendous and inspirational life" in a statement posted on Truth Social.

She met Donald Trump in 1976 while on a business trip to New York. According to the biography, the pair married in 1977.

Ivana and Donald were regular tabloid fodder, and they consciously promoted a celebrity atmosphere around their marriage.

The couple's deteriorating marriage was well publicised, and they split in 1992.

She stayed in the spotlight after the divorce, capitalising on her celebrity by appearing in advertising for big companies and starting a cosmetics firm, Ivana Haute Couture.

Ivana Trump's three adult children, Donald, Ivanka, and Eric, as well as many grandchildren, survive her.
