On Wednesday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Good Shepherd Mission, situated at 1005 Martin Luther King Drive, will host a free Covid immunisation clinic. The Texas Department of State Health Services is providing this clinic.
Moderna and Pfizer will be offered for youngsters aged 5 to 11, with Pfizer being available for children aged 12 and up. Walk-ins will be welcomed on a first-come, first-served basis. Online registration is available at https://getthevaccine.dshs.texas.gov/, and phone registration is available at (833) 832-7067.
"We're trying to stay proactive to keep our customers secure," said Dave Smith, director of Good Shepherd Mission.
Project Manager for State Health Services, Victor Johnson, reached out to Smith to set up the clinic.
We’ve been very fortunate throughout the pandemic. We never had to shut down,” said Smith.
GSM was able to provide testing and immunizations on two separate occasions in 2020. The usage of masks and social separation is now standard procedure at the mission.
Lodgers are required to be vaccinated and visitors to the meal site at lunch and dinner are required to wait outside. The food bank now offers outside pickup of food for qualifying individuals with vouchers.
