Learn how to install a battery cut-off switch that kills the engine and all electrical power to-and-from the battery. I also show you how to crimp battery cables using a hand crimper, hammer crimper, and hydraulic crimper, so you will learn each method and how to get perfect crimps.

I have keychains for everyone and team t-shirts (first come first serve)
Toggle switch on the Neutral safety switch ..equals no one starting it if they don't know it's there… perfect kill switch
Is this bad for the battery/ computer to reset it every night
For the crimp heat shrink, use adhesive lined shrink tubing. It has adhesive inside that when heated and shrunk will fill the gaps and perform the same function as the silicone paste with the added benefit of waterproofing the connection.
Bro my cat clicked on this video and just left 😂😂😂
2:04 “a track worker needs to be able to reach your kill switch” I never thought that you’d be able to be kill switched in a car lmfao. Only on a bike
Great job and loved the lesson!👍🏁
Bring back the drift sting
So I think hydraulic Crimper is better and worth it for me even if I’m not using it i could still use it to crimp 12 gauge wire like using butt connector, eyelet and more
I legit know how to drive cars and if I were on the team, I'd push the car to the limit. (I did install a kill switch in one of my buses to make it easier to shut off cause sometimes it doesn't cut off when the key is off.)
The two red cables from the switch to the battery now are superfluous, one is enough. They are fully parallel, they just make a double cable.
With this type of schema the alternator is still powering the fuse box if the car is still moving (inertia) while the kill switch is removed. Not sure if this is what you wanted.
Excellent Video!
bro that was professional
I'm doing this install on my drift 1980 luv truck but I'ma have the witch hidden under my dash for anti theft
I was watching the wiring part for so long that I forgot that I was even watching a battery kill switch install. lol
This video is gonna be handy for our race car project, thx Chris!
Hey I’m looking at using this switch as a cut off for my subwoofer amp. Will this work for that purpose being placed on the main power line to shut off?
When you give up on finding a parasitic draw
I just watched a 40 minute video of something I will never do in a car
I live in Ohio I can’t crimp anything 😢
well done Chris
Watched this video, after it I thought I could use it for installing a kill switch. My E30 apparently already has one in the engine bay, installed by its previous owner. Weird.
I bought a 95 mustang v6 just a few months ago and it has a very simple switch connected to the alternator and I literally have no idea which way is on or off as it doesn't have any indications. Previous owner said it was in the car when he purchased it and he just never touched it. I had issues with my battery (less than a year old) as soon as the weather started to get colder, where it would lose most power or shut off completely. The only way for me to drive the car without fear of shut down was to test flipping the switch. I'm assuming it's only pulling power from the alternator at that point? I'm so confused on which move to make next besides replacing the battery
Love the spray paint color you used, what’s it?
Can you make a video of when you install the fire suppression system?
Chris wasn't lying when he said that he always forgets to add heatshrink… But in all seriousness, awesome video!
Some heatshrink tubing comes with an adhesive already pre-installed on the inside. When you put it on, and then heat it up, it will melt the adhesive – and then dry when cooled, creating a waterproof seal. You can skip the silicon for these types of heatshrinks, making the job a little faster and easier 🙂
Being that Chris’s store is on Bunker Branding it confirms my assumptions that he’s my kind of guy. Interesting enough it seems like gun guys in car guys go hand-in-hand, I haven’t met a gun guy who wasn’t at least kind of into cars and vice versa.
What if I have a tune will it rest that to
I don't even have a car but I watch these videos so I will know for when I get a car… So early thanks
If you are running long lengths of cable like here do not use anything marked CCA. CCA is Copper Coated Aluminum. It does not conduct as well as pure copper. It will drop your voltage as the cable will have more resistance than copper. Also plan ahead!!! Anytime you splice a wire/cable you are adding resistance. Also make sure the cut off switch will handle the amperage needed. Many cheep switches are available but can't handle the amperage needed for a car starter motor!
