In this video I will be talking about the mistake people through impact. This video will help you develop more speed and also help you to close the club face properly.

As I struggle with the release and want to work on the first drill, what should I do if I start to over hook the ball while doing this?
Thanks Jonathan for a well explained topic on release.
Gonna try this today😁
Mack Attack , Great video J K M
I have been trying to understand the pros and cons of the various release patterns, so this was very useful. However, I would like to understand what you class as a "flip".
I call mine V to V….U start with a V as you look down at the ball…take it back and see the V..follow through and see that same V again. Great video!!
This is so hard for me. I just naturally want to chicken wing
exactly , this is the best video and the truth about the hand and wrist release that almost not one is revealing , Jonathan you are a great master teacher , the people obsessed with ben hogan body release forgot that hogan did had wrist hinge , and no one dared to get into this major move . great job great mastery Jon !
Excellent…thank you…at address, I say 'right hand over on ball'…I swing left shoulder to chin, pause, right shoulder to chin as my hands turn over on ball. I am an athletic 75 year old, but not very strong…so this action allows me some swing speed.
Thanks Jonathan. I really get more distance by doing this.
Such a good video. Simple too. I'm a teaching pro and I will say that so much of the instruction and talk of the golf swing during Pro tournaments on TV has a GREAT deal to do with why people screw this up. The professional golfer knows how to release and in most cases is trying to LIMIT the release into a controlled fade. Problem is those aims have NO BENEFIT to the average golfer who DOES NOT know how to release the golf club properly–as you are demonstrating here. BEFORE any of this HOLD or FADE stuff ever may find it's way into your swing, you HAVE GOT to learn how to release the club properly first. EXACTLY what he's showing here. WONDERFUL VIDEO. )
This is extremely helpful, thanks for providing such great content! Keep up the good work! Cheers
I really like this. The only thing I think this video is missing is why in fact we want to "stop the hands". This is basic mechanics – we are stopping our hands by "pushing away" from the club. We are using the club to slow the hands (and in fact to slow down our arms and shoulders), just by transferring kinetic energy to the club. The "side effect" is that the club head accelerates as its kinetic energy had to increase. It is like bumping into somebody, we slow down, and he moves faster.
👍👍
Now to go out and practice what you just taught me.
Thanks!
Also to everyone here saying “OMG where has this been all my life, why has no one ever said this before?”….are you kidding me?!?! This is the old 2000 Tiger release and has been around since the beginning of golf!!! Where have all of you been? 🙄….stop it!
Fore left!!!
Jonathan, i am 67 yrs old and 7 handicap. Always been a sweeper of the ball, trying to learn how to hit the ball first and then the turf. This morning i found something that seems to be helping that is getting my nose in front of the ball while hitting irons. Let me know your thoughts.
Jonathan, learning and enjoying your golf videos.
this video was ridiculously well made and explained.
Takk!
Jonathan, great video. I like your idea with the thumb. I can make a good release if I swing in slow motion but as soon as I make a full speed swing my good release disappears. Any other drills or suggestions to help?
I love the clarity of the fault and the solution. Great video. Got my Subscription.
I do like the video but how do I get to impact position and still do this release action?
JKM, great video!!!! …….after watching some videos of my iron swing , I tend to hit the ball with my arms and I am not developing that proper wrist action….my 7 i carry is only averaging 125 yards and I sometimes block my shots to the right, just as you stated …QUESTION: is there a " feel " I can try to achieve when next going to the range to practice ? ……….thanks
Thank you for a great explanation these are both the problems me and my golf mate are working on.
Superb lesson. Well done Great pointers
Dude, you are best!
The funny thing is my iron swing and my driver swing are exactly the way you say not to do it lol. So from these videos I can clearly see my problems but trying to fix the deeply ingrained problems on my own (even with your videos) is really really hard.
Very well explained I gotta say. The most difficult part of learning golf is having someone who expresses efficiently and clearly the drills. U did a great job!
Dude you broke it down better then anybody I’ve seen on YouTube, thank you! New sub!!
I dont understand how the release impacts the ball speed since it is mainly post-strike?
Finally. Thank you so much, Jonathan. What a great explanation of a concept that nobody really talks about. Just what the doctor ordered…
