Disapointing – oil in pasta boiling water & salting pasta after cooking. Rice is soggy but he says its perfectly cooked. Sharpening knife with a HONING steel. Does gordon know what a whetstone & strop is used for?

that’s the most beautiful rice cooked by boiling pot I’ve ever seen, but the rice cooker is so much nicer, if you don’t have that at home. Invest in it, it’s worth it. As an Asian, I don’t think boiling pot can cook “the perfect rice” 😅

I am sorry but if you need olive oil for your pasta to not stick together is because you don't have a big enough pot and not enough water. Don't waste the olive oil… ask any real Italian chefs.
I don't think filleting a salmon is a basic cooking skill.
That’s not sharpening a knife. That’s honing a knife. Sharpening means your remove or scrape a new edge while honing using a honing steel is meant to keep the knife sharp and straightening the edges again. Once a knife is blunt, you can’t hone it anymore.
But how does he cut the onion into such thin strips without cutting himself or the onion falling apart? I always cry when cutting them.
I could watch him cook all day. He’s got such passion and skill for the art.
